Day 3 - Viviers

While we were sleeping, our ship continued up the Rhone, arriving in Viviers early in the morning.  More breakfast awaited us, followed by a leisurely walking tour into the city of Viviers.  We returned to the ship around 1100 in time for lunch.  Shortly thereafter our ship left Viviers en route to our next port of call, Tournon.  We kept busy on the ship while waiting for dinner.  We attended a Viking Explorer Society cocktail party (we were invited because this was our second Viking cruise - we did the Baltic with them in the summer of 2018) followed by a presentation by our Program Director on other Viking itineraries, followed by a port talk presentation about upcoming tours in Tournon.

Our ship, the Viking Delling, tied up at the pier in Viviers... It was a short walk into town down this beautiful tree-lined street.

Fountain in the center of town.  End goal of today's tour is to climb up to the top of the cliff that can be seen behind and to the left of the foutain On our way up - winding, narrow, medieval alleys.

Surprise, another church/cathedrale.... ... in this case, the Viviers Cathedral.

Steps leading up to one of the entrances to the cathedral.  Love the vaulted ceilings...

Memorial inside the cathedral to the men (and women?) from Viviers who were killed in World War I...

At the top of the cliff looking back and down towards the city.

Another view looking down.  Row of trees going off to the right are the canopy covering the street we took coming into Viviers.

Beautiful Angela posing behind the trees... :)
