Day 07 - Welcome to Aalborg, Denmark

We  cruised all night and most of the morning, arriving in Aalborg, Denmark in the early afternoon. We started on a walking tour of the old town, then decided to break away on our own to tour a local art museum.

Going to a lecture on something called the “Berlin Airlift” this evening before we head over for dinner. Leaving Aalborg tonight en route to Copenhagen.

Viking ran a whole series of onboard lectures on various topics related to the cruise itinerary. This morning we attended this lecture which focused on the Battle of Hastings... fascinating.  Passed by this sailboat as we cruised into the port of Aalborg...

As we came off the ship we saw this interesting fountain, it goes off four times a day, synchronized to “Water Music” by Handel.  Walking through the fountain on our way downtown...

Passed this group of pseudo-Vikings on our walk, they were mostly selling souvenirs and local honey...  City square in old town Aalborg. Weather was incredible, mid 70s, and everybody was out enjoying the sunshine.

We think this might have been city hall...   Angela lounging on a fountain on our way to the local art gallery.

"The Bell Tower in Orgeval " by artist Marc Chagall, on display at the Kunsten Museum of Modern Art in Aalborg

... and another lovely work titled “Spring” by the Danish painter Hans Brendekilde.  This was a large work, It was about four feet across...
