Day 13 - Volos, Greece...
Docked in Volos this morning. Today’s tour included a visit to the Archeological Museum in Volos and a drive up to Mt. Pelion. Weather continues to amaze, cannot believe how we lucked out over the last two weeks. One more dinner aboard ship tonight, tomorrow morning we disembark in Athens. We plan to stay the weekend and fly back to the States on Monday morning...
View of Volos from our cabin balcony... | Entrance to the Archeological Museum in Volos. Of course it has columns... |
Inside the museum... | ... a terracotta chariot with horses (?) |
More gold... |
... and another vase. Most of this stuff is dug up from ancient burial sites. Incredibly well preserved but a little creepy... |
View of the city of Velos and its harbor from the top of Mt. Pelion. |
Another view. Velos is on the north side of the Pasagetic Gulf. Gulf entrance is due south, harbor is totally protected from the sea on the east |
