Day 8 - Luxor and cruising the Nile

Took a charter flight from Cairo to Luxor (aka Thebes) this morning. Drove directly to the Temple of Karnak for a tour. Just incredible!  After our morning tour we boarded our Viking ship, the MS Antares, which was docked on the Nile.  Checked out our cabin, looked around a bit, had a drink and a snack or two, then walked off the ship for a quick evening tour of the Luxor Temple.

Self-explanatory...

Tree-lined walkway to Karnak Temple...

Guard lion (?) on the approach to the temple...

... and some of his buddies!

Approaching the entrance...

... a peek into the inner courtyard.

Statue in the courtyard...

... and yet another colonnade.

Inside view of the temple

Another inside view.

An obelisk peeking out near the temple exit.

Our intrepid heroes at Karnak Temple.

View of our dock on the Nile from our ship, the MS Antares.  Viking leased the Antares because of demand.  Older ship but, unlike normal Viking ships, richly appointed.

Our cabin "living room", very spacious!

Nice little desk in the bedroom area...

... Angela appears to be happy with the accommodations!

View from our cabin balcony.

Evening tour to Luxor Temple.  Close by to our dock, we walked there right off the ship.
