Day 19 - Final tour in Jerash, back to Amman, time to go home!

Checked out of our hotel in Petra bright and early and got back on the bus to head north 3 1/2 hours to the city of Jerash (north of Amman).  We did get a chance to stretch our legs a bit when we stopped for lunch somewhere along the way.  Upon arriving in Jerash, we completed our very last tour at the Jerash Roman-era archeological site.  After the tour, we drove back to Amman to check into our hotel for the night.  Another fine dinner and some final packing.  Flying out of Amman tomorrow on our way home!

Welcome to Jerash!

In Jerash, we toured the ruins of the Greco-Roman city of Gerasa which are quite extensive.  Here what remains of the city's south gate

The city baths, how civilized!

Back in Amman after our tour, approaching our hotel for the evening, the W Amman...

A final shot - sunset in Amman.  End of the day and the end of our incredible trip to Israel, Egypt, and Jordan.

Addendum - We flew out of Amman the next morning to London - flight time was five hours.  We had a two hour lay over in London.  Next leg was a nine hour flight from London to Miami.  We took a bus shuttle from Miami to Ft. Lauderdale, another hour.  Total travel time to Ft. Lauderdale was 17 hours with a seven hour time differential.  Whew!  Can you say jet lag!!

We crashed with Annie and Rod at their condo in Ft. Lauderdale for the night.  We flew back home to KCMO the next afternoon.  Talk about good timing, we got back to KC just in time to watch the entire city come out to celebrate the Super Bowl win by the Kansas City Chiefs!  Super Bowl was the same day as our tour of Petra...
