2016 River Cruise - Day 10
Day 10 we arrived in Würzburg. It was the only day that it rained at all the entire trip. We were provided the option of staying in town with a local tour guide or getting on a bus to go to Rothenburg for the day. Most everybody decided to go to Rothenburg but we and about six other hardy souls decided to stay in town, this turned out to be a great idea. We got a virtually private tour of the incredible Residenz Palace, walked around town for a couple of hours, had lunch at a great local restaurant, then joined back up with everybody else for a private wine tasting in the cellar of the Residenz Palace. Afterwards, we went back to the ship where we were entertained by an Om-Pah band, followed by dinner and a disco night. We closed the bar, along with some Aussie couples. A great day, even with the rain!

More like 100% "chance" of showers. It came down pretty good for about an hour, then it cleared. |

Interesting view of the river lock system on the Main near Würzburg. Lock was on only one side of the river, the other side (with rapids) was left as is... |

Annie and me on the old Main Bridge in Würzburg. We all had lunch at a nice restaurant at one end of the bridge. Since we were on our own, the Tauck tour director gave us money for our lunch! |
We stopped for coffee at a little coffee shop. This lady was sitting on her own, didn't say much and had a sort of "wooden" expression, no? |

Private wine tasting in the cellar of the Residenz Palace. It was a little spooky going down the stairs and seeing all the candles, reminded me of some bad horror movies I have seen... |
Back on our boat with a local Om-pah band. They were very good actually, I think we bought their CD... |

Ending the evening with some "liquid refreshments." Rod got very friendly with the bar manager, at every stop the manager would go out and get a couple local beers for Rod to sample... |
